Mechanical engineering is a sub-discipline of engineering and it is used to apply the principles of material science and physics for analysis. It is also about maintenance and manufacturing of mechanical systems. It involves the production or usage of the heat. The engineering education needs the student to understand thermodynamics, kinematics, materials science, mechanics and structural analysis. Now the engineers uses computer aided engineering to analyze and to design the manufacturing plants, machinery and industrial equipment, robots, watercraft, aircraft and medical devices.
Mechanical engineering education begun during the industrial revolution during the 18th century in Europe, however its application can be traced back in thousands years before. Mechanical engineering became well known because of the development of physics. Now the field compasses more in technology. Now engineers are more involved in the mechatronics, nanotechnology and composites. The field overlaps with aerospace, civil engineering, petroleum engineering, aerospace engineering with chemical engineering . The degree of mechanical engineering is found around the globe. It can take four up to five years. The degree can be bachelor of Science Engineering, bachelor of Science and degree of Bachelor of Applied science.
Many mechanical engineers may choose to pursue the postgraduate degree like Master of Technology, Master of Engineering Management or Master of Engineering. Those who want to go ahead they can qualify for the engineer’s degree or doctor of philosophy. The last degrees need the student to do research. The Doctor of Philosophy can include the research and it is the entry point into academia. The Engineer’s degree is offered by few institutions and it acts as the doctorate or master’s degree.
Each country has its own standards set of accreditation so that there is uniformity in the subject offered and to promote competence in graduating engineers. This also helps in maintaining the confidence in the mechanical engineering as a whole profession.
The subjects that are common for the students who want to qualify as the mechanical engineers are: dynamics, statics, solid mechanics, strength of materials, measurement, instrumentation, electronics, electrotechnology, heat transfer, thermodynamics, energy conversion, fuels, automotive engineers, combustion, fluid dynamics, fluid mechanics, manufacturing engineering, mechanism, pneumatics, hydraulics, mathematics, product design, engineering design, control theory, mechatronics, design engineering and material engineering among others.
Mechanical engineers are also required to know the basic principles into physics, civil engineering, chemistry, electrical engineering and physics. Some mechanical engineering programs can require the student to be specialized in different classes or programs.

Mechanical engineering has an impact on our lives in different ways. Field in mechanical engineering uses force, motion and energy to build gadget and machines which make our life better.
Mechanical engineering has become an integral part of our own lives, we sometime even fail to notice it. You can turn your light on without even thinking that you are using mechanic, or when you pass on a bridge or even a road itself is a result of mechanical engineering.
There are different disciplines in engineering and there are many sub-disciplines in mechanical engineering and the people who want to study engineering can get specialization in one of the sub-discipline. Mechanics is the field that studies about forces and their effects on many things. This is about the prediction and the analysis of how objects really work f they are under variety of stresses. Kinematic: in this discipline students learn on the motions of system and bodies. Robotics: students learn about many different disciplines like electrical engineering or even software. The robots that help men to do other works like assembling cars are manufactured under this discipline. A structural analysis: this is the mechanical engineering that is used also in civil engineering and it teaches on why systems fail. Student also can choose to be in thermodynamics or drafting discipline.
Engineers are always looking into the ways that they can find answers to the people’s problems so that they can live an easier life. Many disciplines are being combined to make sure that they produce safer, cost effective and efficient products. Now with computer, there are many aided engineering options that are being used to create better and accurate products, interfaces and assembly parts.
There are also some advancements of composite material production. For example the carbon composite materials that are being used in airplanes, cars, fishing rods and spacecrafts.
There is also an increased effort to build machines that helps in automation of other things. Mechanical engineering can help in building cars, making the parking rot automatic or simplify automated dispensing systems.
Beside of using the engineering for big things, it also works with small things. For example nanotechnology works together with engineering to develop molecular assemblers. This is among the last use of technology that can make changes in exploration, warfare, and health but it is yet to be fully developed.
