Aging is the hard reality of life. We all are getting older every day and we won’t remain young forever. To enjoy the life we have got, we must learn to optimize our vitality and the quality of our lives for the longest period of time.
Science has evolved enough to have the knowledge and means to delay and, to some extent, reverse the aging process. Rather than treating for symptoms and diseases, anti-aging improves quality of life by treating the total individual.
Anti-aging or Life extension science
Life extension science is the study of slowing down or reversing the processes of aging to extend both the maximum and average lifespan. It is also known as anti-aging medicine, experimental gerontology, and biomedical gerontology.
Anti-aging treatment covers patient evaluation through extensive medical history, lifestyle assessment, physical examination and laboratory evaluation, to establish personalized proactive treatment plans consisting of proper diet, exercise, stress management and appropriate medical interventions.
Plastic Suregon Dr. Farella1 says, anti-aging medicine focuses on preservation of optimum human function and quality of life, making every effort to modulate the process of aging prior to the onset of degenerative aging. There are several anti-aging products like nutrition, physical fitness, skin care, hormone replacements, vitamins, supplements and herbs.(Ref: Plasam Skin Rejuvenation, http://www.drfarella.com/laser/plasma-Skin.asp )
Some of the benefits of anti-aging medicines are as follows:
Unlike conventional medicine which is reactive and seeks to treat existing diseases, it is proactive and tries to prevent these diseases before they occur
The anti-aging medicine can delay the onset of aging, and may also alleviate some diseases that are the result of gradual wear on our body
It treats premature aging
It strives to detect at an early stage, prevent, treat and reverse the functional impairment, disability and disease related to aging.
Its objectives are maintaining good health, physical and mental abilities and, for many, tending towards an ideal of beauty modeled on youth.
Some of benefits of anti-aging medicines are
Increased Mental Functioning
Improved Immune System
Enhanced Sexual Energy
Improved Physical Appearance
Improved Cardiac and Diabetic Risk Profiles
